Of jouw Linux Distro standaard een Virus scanner aan boord heeft ? Waarom ? Wat is dat ? Waarom zou je dat willen ?

Alleen Linux servers draaien virus scanners. om virussen te zoeken in windows bestanden. Normale linux gebruikers hebben binnen Linux geen last van virussen. Nooit.
Als het al eens flink mis gaat …kent u het pebcar virus ? nee ? zoek maar op het internet ! … mmm staat er niet meer op.

Any antivirus software in Linux ? I haven't used one since 2006 when I started to use Linux in my computer.

You don't need antivirus for the most part. But if you do want one, configure CLAMAV, and use CLAMTK as the GUI if you want one

For normal use you don't need one but they can be useful. 1 is if you have a windows install that you want to be able to scan from outside windows. Another reason is to download sketchy files on your Linux install, scan them, and hopefully they're safe for your windows machine.

I have Clamav on my nextcloud server configured to scan files as they sync. Even if you're not worried about yourself, you don't want to accidentally share malware with somebody who might be vulnerable. I have ClamTK installed on my laptop for scanning files on demand.

I have created a a live Linux bootable USB that has Clamav in it (Command line).

I can tell from personal experience that on a Microsoft Surface it picked up more than half a dozen malware files masquerading as downloads from Google. I could tell because there were typos!!! That was the final straw! After that, I decided to blow away Windows and installed Linux. Since then I haven't looked by. My work machines have windows, but all my personal machines have Linux.

Only usefull to scan emails in my windows partitions
